Denver trades for Waddle
The Denver Broncos are acquiring standout wide receiver Jaylen Waddle in a blockbuster deal that sends three draft picks to the Miami Dolphins, including a first-rounder, two people with knowledge of the deal told the Associated Press on Tuesday. Both spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal hasn't been announced. The Dolphins will receive the 30th-overall pick in next month's NFL Draft along with picks in the third and fourth rounds. Denver will get Miami's fourth-rounder along with Waddle. The Broncos were the only team not to sign a free agent outside of retaining their own players before making this deal. Waddle gives Bo Nix another main playmaker along with Courtland Sutton, boosting a passing offense that finished 11th in the NFL last season. The Broncos were the AFC's No. 1 seed last season but lost to New England in the snowy AFC Championship Game without Nix, who broke his ankle in a game against Buffalo in the divisional round. The 27-year-old Waddle, a first-round pick in 2021, has averaged 81 receptions, 1,098 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns over his five-year career.
NFLPA elects Tretter
JC Tretter is the new executive director for the NFL Players Association. The 35-year-old former center for Green Bay and Cleveland was elected by the union's board of player representatives on Tuesday. Tretter previously served as NFLPA president from 2020 to 2024. Tretter's election follows a tumultuous period for the NFLPA, which went from DeMaurice Smith to Lloyd Howell to interim executive director David White. Howell stepped down last July after a series of distractions during his short tenure. Tretter already played an integral role as president during covid-19, helped negotiate key CBA amendments and launched the NFLPA's team report cards.

He joins a star-studded offense that features quarterback Jalen Hurts, 2024 AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert, who is returning on a one-year contract. Brown's best season came in 2021 with Baltimore. He had 91 receptions for 1,008 yards and 6 touchdowns. Brown, who turns 29 in June, has 371 catches for 4,322 yards and 33 touchdowns in seven seasons with Baltimore, Arizona and Kansas City.

Bucks' star sidelined

Edwards out 1-2 weeks
Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Anthony Edwards will miss the next several games with inflammation in his right knee, with the team in the thick of the race for playoff position in the Western Conference. The Timberwolves announced before their game on Tuesday against the Phoenix Suns that Edwards would be re-evaluated in one to two weeks, after the sixth-year guard underwent an MRI exam. That means Edwards will miss at least four games, with the Timberwolves playing four times in a six-day span. A two-week absence would cost him seven games. Edwards, who played in 79 games in each of the three previous seasons, is averaging a career-best 29.5 points per game. Minnesota beat Phoenix 116-104 Tuesday.
