Cavaliers guard Dennis Schroder opened up about his exit from the Sacramento Kings this season, saying he does not want to revisit that period, describing the situation as extremely difficult, and noting that the team did not keep the promises made to him before he signed.
At the trade deadline, 32-year-old veteran guard Dennis Schroder was sent to his 11th NBA franchise, being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

It initially looked like he had found a long-term home after signing a three-year, $44 million deal with the Sacramento Kings last offseason.
However, once the season began, everything changed, as the Kings and Schroder's visions no longer aligned. The Kings entered another rebuilding phase, while Schroder wanted to be part of a winning team.
Looking back at his time in Sacramento, Schroder said he does not want to revisit that period, describing the situation as extremely difficult and noting that the team did not keep the promises made to him before he signed.
"I have to say one thing: with Sacramento, with Christie, it's extremely difficult right now," Schroder said on the Golden Hoops Podcast, via HoopsHype.
"I don't want to build contact there right now because the situation was extremely difficult, and I think what they said and what they did just wasn't the same."

"I'm in a better situation now. But when someone says something, I'm always a fan of making sure we keep it that way. If I tell someone, 'Hey, we're going to do this and this,' then I don't suddenly go off in another direction, you know? So you should always keep your word, and unfortunately the Sacramento Kings didn't do that," he added.
"And that's a shame. Of course, I'm still grateful that they paid me and that they initially believed in the vision. That's why it's still extremely difficult," Schroder said. "But I think after the season, maybe we can sit down and talk about what bothered me, or rather what the situation was and why it is the way it is now."
Before being traded at the deadline, Schroder appeared in 40 games for the Kings, averaging 12.8 points and 5.3 assists per game.
He has also been an important piece for the Cavaliers, averaging 8.6 points and 4.4 assists off the bench as they look to make a deep playoff run this season.
