Khari Ranson benefitting from first-team involvement

It has certainly been a memorable couple of weeks for Khari Ranson, with the young goalkeeper becoming increasingly involved with the first-team squad.

Ranson, 18, has been at Arsenal since 2017 and signed his first professional contract last year.

He has been the third-choice goalkeeper on first-team matchdays on several occasions, and performed that duty for the recent games against Mansfield and Everton.

With two goalkeepers permitted to be named on the bench in the Champions League, Ranson was listed amongst the substitutes for both legs of the round of 16 tie against Bayer Leverkusen.

Tommy Setford and Alexei Rojas are both out injured, while Ranson has seemingly edged ahead of Jack Porter in the pecking order recently.

A goalkeeper who is known for his ability to play out from the back, Ranson is an England U19 international and has previously been involved in squads with Max Dowman at that level.

This season Ranson has been involved for Arsenal at U21, U19 and U18 levels as he has gained valuable experience.

It remains to be seen what the plan will be for the young shot-stopper next campaign but for now he is enjoying his involvement with the senior squad.
