Keon Coleman gets positive prediction.

The Buffalo Bills made a bold move to acquire DJ Moore to become the team’s true No. 1 receiver.

Buffalo’s receiver core has struggled, and the hope is that Moore will help the team’s unit get better. Along with Moore, the Bills have Khalil Shakir and Joshua Palmer as the other main receivers, along with Keon Coleman.

However, Coleman struggled this past season as he was inactive for multiple games due to being late for meetings. His name came up in trade rumors, but Bills insider Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic believes Buffalo is hopeful he can be the team’s No. 3 receiver in 2026.

“The Bills added DJ Moore via trade, but given how the last two years have gone at wide receiver in Buffalo, you can never rule out another addition of consequence,” Buscaglia wrote. “Right now, the top four are Moore, Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Joshua Palmer. Tyrell Shavers suffered a torn ACL in January, casting doubt on his 2026 availability.

“The team also has Mecole Hardman, Stephen Gosnell and Jalen Virgil, though none of them will prevent the Bills from making another move. The Bills are likely hopeful that Coleman or Palmer can become a trustworthy No. 3 wide receiver this season and are leaving the light on for both.”

The Bills selected Coleman in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He’s been inconsistent in his two-year NFL career, as last season, he recorded 38 receptions for 404 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Bills Likely Won’t Draft a WR Until Late

Although Buffalo traded for Moore, many Bills fans were hoping the team would also draft a receiver in the first round.

However, Buscaglia believes Buffalo won’t draft a wide receiver until Day 3, as it’s no longer a pressing need.

“The most likely outcome is the Bills add another veteran receiver to round out the group as their No. 5 wide receiver — at least before the season begins,” Buscaglia added. “With the Bills using a second-round pick to add Moore and this year’s wide receivers class not being strong, they could be pushed to use their first- and third-round picks at other positions. A Day 3 selection at receiver could be a more likely scenario. However, if the right player gets to them at No. 26, never say never.”

The Bills could still also add another veteran receiver in free agency, but Moore will be the team’s big splash.

Owner Called out Coleman

Coleman’s future in Buffalo was up in the air following the team’s year-end press conference.

Bills owner Terry Pegula called out Coleman and said he wasn’t someone that general manager Brandon Beane wanted to draft.

“I’ll address the Keon situation. The coaching staff pushed to draft Keon,” Pegula said. “I’m not saying Brandon wouldn’t have drafted him, but [Coleman] wasn’t his next choice.

“That was Brandon being a team player and taking advice of his coaching staff who felt strongly about the player. And you know, he’s taken — for some reason — heat over it, and not saying a word about it. But I’m here to tell you the true story.”

Beane, however, said he was the one who made the pick. But, it wasn’t a great sign for Coleman as after two years, the Bills could look to move on from him.
