Simon Johnson’s piece for the Athletic today tries to sum up everything that’s gone wrong at Chelsea since last week.

From the 74th minute in Paris last week, they: conceded 3 goals, pushed a ball boy, lost to Newcastle, got into a fuss about their pre-match huddle, Rosenior made silly comments about it, lost Reece James to injury, got a fine and suspended transfer ban for cheating, lost Malo Gusto to illness, had their team news leaked and then lost the game to PSG – and lost Trevoh Chalobah to injury during the game. Post game, Enzo Fernandez said he wants to leave.

Chelsea’s horror week rolls on

“Got all that? Essentially, anything that could go wrong has gone wrong. After two months in the job, this really does feel like the official ‘welcome to Chelsea Liam’. The initial niceties are over and the reality of the task at hand is here. Fans chanted his name after games in the early weeks; now, he has a lot more convincing to do.”

The problem is, some fans are already convinced. And not in the way that Rosenior would like. An initial run of good results had things trending in the right direction, but since then it’s been disaster after disaster. Patience has already run out in some minds, despite the context above.

In other news…

The manager has said that the game told him that he needs players he can trust – we wonder how many are left in this group he thinks he can rely on?

Joe Cole has tried to stay very patient with this ownership but even he lost his cool last night
