Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cameron Heyward revealed what Maxx Crosby had to say about the Baltimore Ravens after his failed trade.

Defensive lineman Cameron Heyward has more than one reason to be pleased Maxx Crosby didn’t ultimately land with the Baltimore Ravens. With Crosby back with the Las Vegas Raiders, he won’t face the Pittsburgh Steelers twice next season.

Crosby could also be teammates with Heyward’s little brother, Connor.

Heyward shared on the new episode of his “Not Just Football” podcast that he reached out to Crosby to ask him to take care of his brother. The conversation allowed Heyward some insight into how Crosby really feels about his nullified deal to Baltimore.

According to Heyward, Crosby didn’t hold back.

“He was like, ‘[Expletive] those dudes. I’m staying with the Raiders,'” Heyward said Crosby remarked, via Steelers Depot’s Joe Clark. “I was like, ‘Alright, I can respect that.’

“Maxx has always been straight up with me, and I’ve always respected Maxx a lot.”

Early this month, Crosby appeared to be heading to the AFC North. The Ravens agreed to send two first-round picks to Las Vegas for the second-team All-Pro edge rusher.

NFL insiders reported the deal as complete on March 6. But offseason trades can’t be finalized until the new league year begins. In 2026, that was March 11 at 4 pm ET.

On March 10, the Ravens pulled out of the deal.

Maxx Crosby Back With Raiders

Crosby has been nothing but positive with his return to Las Vegas.

The Ravens cancelled the trade after Crosby failed a physical. The edge rusher is currently recovering from meniscus surgery this offseason. Crosby didn’t play in the final two games of the 2025 season.

A day after the failed physical in Baltimore last week, the edge rusher delivered a strong message upon being back with the Raiders.

“Everything happens for a reason,” Crosby wrote on X. “Believe nothing you hear and half of what you see.

“I’m a Raider. I’m back. Run that [expletive].”

It’s not surprising, though, that Crosby is privately upset about the Ravens changing their minds on him at the last moment. That decision could prevent Crosby from playing for a new team next season.

It’s worth wondering if Heyward was supposed to keep those comments private. Again, the edge rusher hasn’t publicly said anything negative about the Ravens.

It’s possible he’s not a fan of Heyward sharing his true feelings.

But that’s pure speculation. Crosby has to know Heyward has a podcast, and the Steelers defensive lineman seized the opportunity to take a shot at his biggest rival.

Connor Heyward Joining Raiders

Heyward and Crosby didn’t just talk about the Ravens. First and foremost, Heyward wanted to address his brother in his conversation with the fellow All-Pro.

It’s possible the Raiders trade Crosby again. But if he’s with Las Vegas next season, Heyward wants the edge rusher to look out for his younger brother.

“I was happy he didn’t end up with the Ravens selfishly, but to say he’s going to be there also made me happy because he’s going to be able to take care of little brother,” said Heyward.

Connor Heyward is taking his versatility to Sin City on a 2-year, $4.5 million contract.

Last season, Heyward played a career-low 90 offensive snaps. But he still lined up for a lot of snaps on special teams. The younger Heyward also ran Pittsburgh’s version of the “tush push.”

The Steelers will have a hard time replacing the depth tight end with just one player.
