Newcastle United full-back Kieran Trippier reveals he advised Marcus Rashford ahead of his loan move to Barcelona last summer.
Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on loan at the beginning of the season, after falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.
The England international has scored 10 goals and registered 13 assists in that time, playing 38 matches across all competitions with Barcelona manager Hansi Flick understood to be an admirer of the forward.
Barcelona face Newcastle in the Champions League on Wednesday night, with a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs. Rashford will aim to have a positive impact on the match outcome, especially against Premier League opposition.

Marcus Rashford spoke to Kieran Trippier about moving to Spain
Like any player moving to a new club, league or country, Rashford sought assurances from those he knew experienced football in Spain.
England teammate Kieran Trippier spent two and a half seasons at Atletico Madrid before returning to the Premier League to sign for Newcastle.
They will be on the opposing teams tonight, but Trippier has told TNT Sports that he advised Rashford to leave United to pursue a dream move to Barcelona.

Trippier said: “I spoke to him after the game, obviously, before the first leg. But no, he spoke to me before he moved out here, just asking about, you know, would it be a good move, obviously, going to live abroad?
“And you know, I said, don’t think twice, you know, go and experience it. Don’t come to the end of your career and regret that I went abroad. And, you know, he’s been flying.”
Barcelona are keen to keep Rashford beyond his loan deal, but United will not be budging the on agreed fee they arranged last summer.
Interestingly, Trippier was linked with a move to United during his time at Atletico Madrid, but they weren’t interested in a deal when the full-back eventually left the La Liga outfit.

Rashford has already scored against Newcastle in the Champions League
It bodes well for Barcelona to have Rashford available for Wednesday’s game against Newcastle, given his record against the Magpies.
Rashford has played a total of 17 games against Newcastle throughout his career, winning 10, drawing three and losing four.
He is unbeaten in the two matches he has played against Newcastle while on loan at Barcelona.
However, Rashford has already scored against Eddie Howe’s side in the Champions League.
In the group stage, the 28-year-old scored a brace in a 2-1 win over Newcastle.
