The Pittsburgh Steelers welcomed Carson Beck for a visit as the Miami quarterback could be crowned Aaron Rodgers’ replacement.

Rodgers has yet to confirm whether he will play in 2026, whether it's with the Steelers or another NFL franchise. The 42-year-old led the Steelers to the playoffs last season, but complained about the playing surface at Acrisure Stadium on several occasions.

Rodgers fared well in 2025, throwing for 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns to seven interceptions. But given his age and relative frailty, the Steelers are on the lookout for potential long-term replacements, and Beck has emerged as a potential option.

While Will Howard is in the quarterback room, the Steelers are doing their homework on Beck. The experienced college football signal-caller guided Miami to a 13-3 record over his 16 starts last season, helping eliminate three higher-seeded teams en route to the CFP final, while he concluded the season with 3,813 passing yards, a personal-best 30 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

Beck led the Hurricanes to the national title game, coming up short against Indiana on the back of his final drive interception. Before Miami, Beck played at Georgia and amassed a 37-6 record across his college football career.

His 43 starts are nearly triple the experience of Alabama’s Ty Simpson, and the Steelers are clearly interested. Beck was in Pittsburgh to meet with the AFC North franchise as one of their "30 visits" ahead of next month’s NFL Draft.

The Steelers have 12 total picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, including four compensatory selections, with a first-round pick at No. 21 overall. Perhaps a quarterback will be in play either in the first or second round.

Pittsburgh could see Beck as the answer. The 23-year-old appeared destined for a guaranteed first-round selection following the 2023 season after steering Georgia to a 13-1 (8-0 SEC) record while posting a career-best 3,941 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

However, he chose to return to college football for one more campaign — but his 2024 performances failed to match his previous standards, and ended prematurely with a brutal UCL tear in his throwing arm during the SEC Championship Game. Beck chose to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, only to reverse his decision and enter the transfer portal.

Beck then landed in Miami, and while the national championship eluded him, it was still a successful season.

Beck secured third-team All-ACC honors and hopes his NFL Scouting Combine showing and visits with various franchises have demonstrated enough for an NFL franchise to select him in April's draft.

Last month, Beck had a formal interview with the Cleveland Browns, where his former Georgia offensive coordinator, Todd Monken, is the head coach. Under Monken’s guidance, Beck threw for 7,736 yards and 56 touchdowns with 18 interceptions in 34 games.

Beck also met with the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and Steelers at the Combine, among others. Pittsburgh clearly sees something in Beck, and time will tell if they spend capital to dress him in yellow and black come May.
