After spending a night in Florida, the Oklahoma City Thunder are up in New York to take on the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, March 18.

Heading into the second night of a back-to-back set, the Thunder are preparing to potentially play without their star big man, Chet Holmgren.

On Wednesday, Holmgren checked in for 33 minutes against the Orlando Magic on the road. The star center made 8-14 shots from the field, missing both of his attempts from three. Holmgren knocked down 4-5 shots from the charity stripe.

The big man produced 20 points, 12 rebounds, one assist, and one block. The Thunder defeated the Magic 113-108, keeping up with their nine-game winning streak.

When the Thunder hosted the Boston Celtics on March 12, Holmgren made his return, and quietly produced 14 points and nine rebounds in the tight 104-102 win over Boston.

The veteran center followed that game with a 21-point, nine-rebound showing against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Thunder took down the Wolves with a 116-103 win.

Since his days at Gonzaga, Holmgren has been viewed as one of the best bigs in the sport.

After spending one season in college, Holmgren entered the 2022 NBA Draft. The Thunder selected him second overall. While his rookie season was derailed with a foot injury before it started, Holmgren quickly adapted to the NBA during his second year with the Thunder and has turned into an All-Star.

In 59 games this season, Holmgren has shot 55% from the field and hit on 34% of his threes. The big man is posting averages of 17.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.

The Thunder started the year as the defending champions, and they continue to play like it. After Tuesday’s win over Orlando, the Thunder holds a 54-15 record. They have a 3.0-game lead over the second-seeded San Antonio Spurs. Going against Brooklyn on Wednesday, the Thunder are searching for their 10th win in a row.

The game is set for a 7:30 PM ET tip.
