Draymond Green calls for rival to relocate: ‘Do us all a favor’

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has never been afraid to give his opinion on things, and now that he’s a member of the “new media” via his podcast*, The Draymond Green Show*, he’s more inclined than ever to give his takes, however hot they may be.

News broke last week that the NBA would be exploring adding new franchises to Seattle and Las Vegas as expansion teams, with an official vote taking place at the Board of Governors meetings on March 24 and 25, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.

However, one prominent personality at the Worldwide Leader called for another city to be considered.

“Nashville is a growing city. A lot of people love Nashville, and obviously, they’re a very successful city; they are a thriving city in the United States of America… ” First Take’s Stephen A. Smith said.

“You wonder about Nashville, comparing that to Seattle, and wondering what kind of possibilities may present (themselves) in that regard.

Smith isn’t the only one who wants Nashville to have a team. Only in Green’s case, he wants the move to come at the expense of one of his rivals in the Western Conference.

“(NBA commissioner Adam Silver), let them just do us all a favor and take the team to Nashville,” Green said. “No harm, no foul—no relocation fee. It’s a swap. See that arena? You ain’t gotta pay the relocation fee.”

Regardless of whether Nashville goes on to host a franchise, there’s an argument to be made that with how many NBA games result in blowouts night to night, the league is less in need of expansion and more in need of tightening up its product to increase competitiveness.
