LSU Hires Former Baltimore Ravens Coach Tee Martin for Offensive Analyst Role

Tee Martin, the former Baltimore Ravens quarterbacks coach, is heading back to college football. Lane Kiffin, LSU’s new head coach since December 2025, is bringing Martin aboard as an offensive analyst for the Tigers.

Martin’s time with the Ravens ended on February 4, when newly installed head coach Jesse Minter restructured the Baltimore staff following John Harbaugh’s dismissal.

Harbaugh, who coached the Ravens for 18 seasons before his January 2026 firing, has since moved to the New York Giants. Martin had built a close working relationship with two-time NFL MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson during his time in Baltimore.

Kiffin’s decision to bring Martin to Baton Rouge marks a reunion. The two worked together previously at USC, with Kiffin originally hiring Martin in 2012.

As a player, Martin succeeded Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning at Tennessee, leading the Vols to the 1998 national championship. Pittsburgh then selected him in the fifth round of the 1999 NFL Draft.

His coaching career started at Morehouse College as a passing game coordinator. After time at the high school level, he returned to college football at New Mexico in 2009 as quarterbacks coach, then moved to Kentucky as wide receivers coach.

Martin arrived at USC in 2012 and spent seven seasons with the Trojans, eventually reaching offensive coordinator by 2016. That staff helped develop NFL pass catchers Marqise Lee, Robert Woods, and Nelson Agholor.

After USC, Martin spent two seasons as assistant head coach at Tennessee in 2019 and 2020.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz confirmed the LSU hire in an X post on Wednesday.

What Tee Martin Adds to Lane Kiffin’s Reconstructed LSU Offense

Martin steps into a program actively reshaping its offense. Kiffin brought in quarterback Sam Leavitt through the transfer portal and added 12 new wide receivers this offseason.

Offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr., who has partnered with Kiffin since 2015 across multiple programs, leads the unit in Baton Rouge.

Martin’s analyst role comes with on-field access under a 2024 NCAA rule change permitting analysts to coach during practices and games.

All five of Martin’s years in Baltimore were spent coaching receivers or quarterbacks at the NFL level. That depth of NFL quarterback coaching experience directly serves what Kiffin is building around Leavitt in 2026.

Spring practice opens March 24, giving Martin less than a week before the staff is on the field. Martin’s coaching profile is unusual for an analyst role. Most who fill these positions come from graduate assistant backgrounds or entry-level coaching jobs, not from offensive coordinator stops and NFL quarterback rooms.

For Kiffin, who has consistently brought coaches he trusts into his programs regardless of job title, the hire reflects a deliberate decision.

Martin gets back on a college field at a program with real resources and a head coach who already knows how to use him.

How that plays out in 2026, and what it leads to beyond this season, will be worth watching once LSU’s offense begins taking shape.
