Derrick Clark’s Broncos Tenure and Brief but Memorable NFL Career
Clark signed with the Denver Broncos as an un-drafted free agent in 1994, joining a powerhouse team led by Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway. In his rookie season, he appeared in games for the Broncos, rushing for 168 yards and scoring three touchdowns on limited carries.
He also contributed nine receptions for 47 yards and handled kickoff returns on special teams. Although his NFL career was short-lived — with only one season of significant game action in 1994, followed by brief stints with the Broncos in 1996 and the Oakland Raiders in 1997 — Clark earned respect as a hard-working, dedicated back during his time in Denver.
Post-NFL Success in Europe and the XFL
After his NFL days, Clark continued his football journey in NFL Europe with the Rhein Fire, where he rushed for 21 touchdowns over five seasons and helped lead the team to the 1998 World Bowl championship. He later played for the Orlando Rage in the XFL in 2001, showcasing his versatility and determination across multiple leagues.
