Leboeuf tips Declan Rice as Arsenal’s Player of the Season

Former Chelsea FC defender Frank Leboeuf has backed Declan Rice as Arsenal FC’s Player of the Season, placing the England international ahead of Brazilian centre-back Gabriel Magalhães.

Leboeuf made the remarks while analysing Arsenal’s performances on ESPN, where he praised Rice for his consistent displays throughout the campaign across all competitions.

According to the 58-year-old former France international, the former West Ham United midfielder has been the standout performer in the Arsenal squad this season, highlighting his tireless work rate, leadership, and influence in midfield.

“Rice for me. The guy there is no competition for me,” Leboeuf said. “The guy has been the best player maybe in Europe or in the World. For most of the time, he has been at the top of the top.”

Rice has been instrumental for Arsenal this season, contributing both defensively and offensively from midfield.

The England star has scored five goals and provided 11 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions, underlining his importance to the Gunners’ campaign.

The midfielder also demonstrated his value on Tuesday night when he produced a superb finish in the UEFA Champions League to help Arsenal secure a 2–0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, sealing progression to the quarterfinals of the competition.

While Rice has dominated headlines for his performances, Gabriel has also enjoyed an impressive season at the heart of Arsenal’s defence.

The Brazilian has formed a formidable partnership with fellow centre-back William Saliba, helping the club maintain defensive stability.

Gabriel has also contributed at the attacking end, particularly from set pieces and aerial situations. The defender has registered three goals and four assists in 25 league appearances, making him one of Arsenal’s most reliable performers this season.

Despite Gabriel’s strong displays, Leboeuf believes Rice’s overall influence and consistency place him clearly ahead in the race to be recognised as Arsenal’s best player this campaign.
