The Philadelphia Eagles have pulled off a trade with the Carolina Panthers for a backup quarterback.
According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Eagles are acquiring quarterback Andy Dalton and are sending a 2027 seventh-round pick back to the Panthers.
"The Panthers are sending QB Andy Dalton to the Eagles for a 2027 seventh-round pick, per source," Breer reported.
The writing was on the wall that Dalton would get moved at some point after the Panthers signed former Eagles quarterback Kenny Pickett in free agency.
What this means for Tanner McKee
This trade could mean that the Eagles are going to trade McKee, who was serving as Jalen Hurts' backup for the past two seasons.
McKee has shown flashes in his limited NFL opportunities and there could be more than one team interested in his services.
"There was interest around the league in Tanner McKee last offseason but the Eagles wanted to hold onto him," ESPN's Tom McManus wrote after the Dalton trade was reported. "Good bet there will be some interest in him again."
