There is growing optimism around Stephen Curry as the Golden State Warriors star continues his recovery from a runner's knee injury.

According to Shams Charania, Curry is making steady progress and could return before the end of the month if everything goes well.

"There is cautious optimism that Stephen Curry will return to the lineup at some point by the end of the month," he said on NBA Today. "And that's after, I'm told, he had a strong on-court workout Tuesday afternoon in Boston, starting to run, cut, move, take some slight contact, like the Steph Curry again that we know."

"The most important part, though, is he's not experiencing the swelling that he's had over the last several weeks or a month ago when he needed to get a PRP injection, from my understanding, due to those knee issues," Shams explained. "So now it's about him building on this conditioning, getting more and more comfort in that knee before he's able to make the call to make it back on the court."

Curry has already missed 22 straight games, leaving Golden State without its primary scorer and playmaker during a critical stretch of the season.

The Warriors are currently ninth in the Western Conference with a 33-35 record, still fighting to stay in the Play-In race. Getting Curry back would be a major boost as the team pushes for a playoff spot.

Before the injury, Curry was once again performing at an elite level. In 39 games this season, he has been averaging 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game, while shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from three-point range.
