Jarvis Landry expressed his desire to return to the Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins offense is set to look much different during the 2026 season. Aftertrading wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos in exchange for draft capital, Miami’s offense now lacks Pro Bowl-caliber talent outside of running back De’Von Achane.
Miami entered last season with high-end playmakers like Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Darren Waller and De’Von Achane, with former Pro Bowl quarterback Tua Tagovailoa at the helm. Now, only Achane remains as the Dolphins have moved on from the other three players. To replace Tagovailoa, theDolphins signed the top free agent quarterback on the market, Malik Willis. However, due to their salary cap issues, Miami has not signed a wide receiver or tight end to a multi-year deal this offseason.
No receiver or tight end on the roster had more receiving yards last season than running back De’Von Achane. As a result,NFL on CBS posted an Instagram picture of Miami’s projected offense, which led to one former Dolphins Pro Bowl wide receiver stating that he’s available to return.
Former Miami Dolphins Wide Receiver Expresses Desire to Return
Former Miami Dolphins Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry replied to the Instagram post, saying, “I can be ready in two months.” He then tagged the official Miami Dolphins account.
Landry has not played since the 2022 season, when he was a member of the New Orleans Saints; however, he has not officially retired. Landry spent the first four years of his career with the Dolphins, after being drafted in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
During his second season with the Dolphins, Landry set the Dolphins franchise record with 110 receptions as he was selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career. He would go on to be selected to the Pro Bowl the following two seasons as well. During the 2017 season, which marked his last with the Dolphins, Landry once again set the franchise record for receptions; however, he was ejected in his final game and failed to reach 1,000 receiving yards.
Landry’s records would then be broken by All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill. After being franchise-tagged following the 2017 season, Landry was traded to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a fourth-round pick. Landry was selected to the Pro Bowl twice with the Browns, meanwhile the Dolphins used that draft pick on tight end Durham Smythe.
Miami Dolphins Offense
Taking a chance on a player who has spent the past three seasons out of the NFL seems unlikely, but if there is a team desperate enough to take a chance on him, it might be the Dolphins.
After trading Waddle, the Dolphins have one of the weakest receiver rooms in the NFL. Despite this,NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah does not see them taking a wide receiver with either of their two first-round selections, as he projected the Dolphins to take a cornerback and an edge rusher. Regarding the receiver position, Jeremiah said, “The Dolphins will need to address wide receiver after dealing away Jaylen Waddle, but they are armed with a lot of Day 2 picks to find value at that spot in a year with a deep class at the position.”
