Bucks expected to explore Giannis Antetokounmpo trade again

As this roller-coaster 2025-26 season is about to come to a devastating end, both sides could finally break up in the upcoming offseason.

After not splitting up this past trade deadline, there is a general assumption right now that Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks will be back on the trade block after this season.

Milwaukee Bucks / Schedule

Per Eric Nehm of The Athletic, expectations are whirling across the NBA that both sides will explore a potential trade in the offseason.

"While the franchise ultimately held onto Antetokounmpo through the Feb. 5 trade deadline, general manager Jon Horst listened to offers from opposing teams in the lead-up, a stark contrast to his typical approach regarding Antetokounmpo’s future," he wrote. "There is an expectation that trades could again be explored this summer."

Giannis was left unmoved by the Bucks from the past deadline, despite reports that the Bucks have opened themselves to offers around their franchise star.

During that time, Antetokounmpo and Milwaukee were still looking at competing for this season. Yet right now, a chance of making it to the NBA Playoffs appears highly uncertain.

The Bucks (28-40) are currently 6.5 games away from the final Play-In spot of the Eastern Conference, and the rest of the upcoming games will be even tougher with Antetokounmpo out for at least a week with knee issues.

Injuries have significantly hindered Antetokounmpo in leading the Bucks, playing in just 36 games. As the team is seeking to finally shut him down for the rest of the season, the two-time MVP reportedly dismissed the idea.

It remains to be seen what would ultimately unfold between the two, but the entire league and several interested teams for Giannis can only prepare for a bidding war in the next couple of months.
