Casper native Logan Wilson announces retirement from NFL

CASPER, Wyo. — Casper native and former University of Wyoming and Natrona County High School standout Logan Wilson announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday.

Drafted to the Cincinnati Bengals in 2020, Wilson established himself as one of the league’s top linebackers with 495 tackles in his first five seasons.

During the Bengals’ 2021-22 season that ended with a Super Bowl appearance, Wilson played a pivotal role in propelling the team to the final Sunday of the season [with a clutch forced fumble](https://oilcity.news/community/sports/2023/01/29/as-natrona-county-mustang-cincinnati-bengal-logan-wilson-was-a-consummate-teammate/) at their own goal line in closing minutes of the team’s Wild Card game against the Baltimore Ravens that was run back for a touchdown to preserve the win.

“Cincinnati will always mean a lot to me,” Wilson wrote in his retirement announcement on Instagram. “The teammates, coaches, staff, and fans made those years unforgettable. That 2021 playoff run was something special — the interception in Tennessee to send us to the AFC Championship, beating Kansas City to win the AFC, and taking the field in the Super Bowl. Those moments and that locker room are something I’ll carry with me forever. And the best part of all, my daughter was born there.”

In 2024, Wilson was on pace to again be among the league leaders in tackles before a leg injury forced him to miss the last six games of the season. In 2025, he was removed from the team’s starting lineup and saw decreased playing time, and ultimately requested a trade. He was moved to the Dallas Cowboys midseason.

He finishes his career with 565 total tackles, eight forced fumbles, 11 interceptions and 5.5 sacks.

In his retirement announcement, Wilson said he’s excited for what the future holds, including more time with his family and new fitness challenges. The full statement can be read below:
