Belmont is finalizing a deal to hire Duke assistant coach Evan Bradds as its next head basketball coach, sources tell 247Sports.
Bradds has spent the 2025-26 season as an assistant coach at Duke under Jon Scheyer and will remain with the program through the remainder of the postseason.
The 31-year-old is a Belmont legend, having played for the Bruins from 2013–17. He was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year as both a junior and senior (2015-16 and 2016-17) and earned third-team Academic All-American honors in 2016.
He remains Belmont's all-time leading scorer in the NCAA Division I era with 1,937 points in his collegiate career.
After his playing career, Bradds immediately transitioned to coaching. He began with the Maine Red Claws (Boston Celtics' G League affiliate) in 2017-18, then spent four seasons (2018-22) as an assistant with the Boston Celtics under Brad Stevens. He later served three seasons (2022-25) as an assistant with the Utah Jazz before Jon Scheyer brought him to Duke ahead of the 2025-26 season.
While at Duke, Bradds played a key role in recruiting top-five prospect Cameron Williams in the 2026 class.
Bradds is the grandson of former Ohio State All-American and NBA player Gary Bradds.
At just 31 years old, he will be one of the youngest head coaches in college basketball.
