The Fenway Sports Group, James’ business partner since 2011, is not currently interested in the potential Las Vegas expansion, per Joe Vardon and Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic.

The sports business firm is reluctant to meet the hefty cost of having an NBA team in Vegas, as the league is reportedly looking for an expansion fee as high as $8 billion per franchise.

The MLB's Boston Red Sox and the English soccer giant Liverpool are two teams notably owned by the Fenway Sports Group.

“With Fenway no longer pursuing NBA ownership, it is less likely that LeBron will pursue a team,” a close source to the LA Lakers superstar told Vardon and Vorkunov.
