Celtics Crush Warriors, Sweep California Teams For First Time Ever

With their 120-99 win over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, the Boston Celtics improved to 46-23 this season, including 8-0 against the four NBA teams from California. This is the first time the Celtics have swept the NBA's California teams in franchise history.

Boston won both games of its four series against the Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings, beating all four teams at home and on the road. Most of those games were lopsided, too, with the Celtics winning seven of them by double digits.

That's not an easy feat for an East Coast team, especially since Jayson Tatum was out for the first seven of those victories. However, it helped that the Lakers were the only one of those teams over .500 entering play on Wednesday.

Boston kicked off its run with a narrow 121-118 home win over the Clippers on Nov. 16. The Celtics dominated the depleted Lakers at home on Dec. 5, winning by 21 in a game where Los Angeles was missing both Luka Doncic and LeBron James.

Boston ended 2025 with a five-game road trip out west, which it finished with a 14-point win over the Kings and a 31-point rout of the Clippers in its first two games of 2026.

The Celtics beat the Kings again in their final game of January, prevailing by 19 points at TD Garden. They kicked off the second half with a four-game road trip after the All-Star Break, beating the Lakers and Warriors by double digits on the first two legs of the trip.

Boston completed the sweep with an easy home win over Golden State on Wednesday, extending its winning streak to three games. The surging Celtics will look to keep rolling on Friday when they meet the Memphis Grizzlies on the road.
