Marcus Rashford overlooked in Barcelona win
For a while, Newcastle matched Barcelona. The first leg finished 1-1 and the scoreline was 3-2 in the La Liga outfit’s favour at half-time in the second leg.
The game ended 7-2 with Barcelona winning 8-3 on aggregate. It was a bad night for Eddie Howe, after being tipped for the United job by Roy Keane, with his reputation taking a punch.
It wasn’t a good night on an individual note for Rashford.

Facing English opposition at Camp Nou, it was a chance for Rashford to strengthen his record against Newcastle. Barcelona were scoring goals for fun in the second half and Hansi Flick overlooked the United loanee.
Perhaps this is a sign that Barcelona feel they can cope without Rashford. That could change their mindset towards extending their deal to keep the forward beyond this season.
Barcelona made five substitutions on the night, with the following players coming off the bench: Ronald Araujo, Dani Olmo, Xavi Espart, Ferran Torres and Wojciech Szczesny.
