A look at the early injury news surrounding Arsenal and Manchester City as they prepare to face off in the final.
The Gunners clearly have the upper-hand in the title race, but it will be interesting to see if they turn up with the pressure on in the final. Ahead of the game, we have rounded up the early injury news for the fixtures.
Josko Gvardiol - Out
Gvardiol is going to be out until late April. Guardiola said in his last update: “Without Josko, we're in a difficult situation [defensively] not for one game, but for a long, long period.”
Mikel Merino - Out
Merino is likely going to miss the rest of the season after a foot fracture. Arteta said after the Spaniard’s surgery: “Well, I think the doctors were really happy the way it went. Yeah, now it starts. Obviously, it's a long process. You're talking about bone healing, so you need to be patient. You respect the timings, and I'm sure Mikel is going to do everything that he possibly can to speed up the process. We're talking about months, whether it's three, four or five, we don't know.”
Martin Odegaard - Doubt
Arsenal are hoping Odegaard will be back here. Arteta said earlier in the week: “Yeah, so we're really pushing. He really wants to be available, but we will have to see in the next few days when he trains with the team... how he feels.”
Timber picked up an injury against Everton and will be a big doubt here. Arteta said this week: “We don't know [for the Cup Final]. We think it will be a matter of days, but not sure.”
