Mikel Arteta’s side are also preparing to have a shot at their first piece of silverware this season, as they will face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday at Wembley.
Heading into the summer, Arsenal hope they will have at least one trophy to celebrate, and will aim to kick on next season and win more under Arteta. To do that, they will have to bring in some proven winners to the squad.
Arsenal eyeing Leon Goretzka
One name that Arsenal could turn to as an experienced winner is Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, who has won six Bundesliga titles during his time at the Allianz Arena.
He is set to become a free agent in the summer as his contract at Bayern expires, and Arsenal are reportedly eyeing up the 31-year-old as an experienced depth piece for next season.
However, reports in Italy claim that Juventus are also keen to sign Goretzka, and could make a move. They would likely be able to guarantee him more game time, which could be a major blow to Arsenal’s chances.
Juventus could go after Silva instead
However, the saga took another twist this week, as Italian newspaper Gazetta Dello Sport claimed that Juventus could turn their attention away from Goretzka, and make a move to sign Man City star Bernardo Silva instead.
Silva is set to become a free agent in the summer too, as City haven’t extended his contract, and the report claims that Juventus could target the Man City star as they want more of an attacking threat than Goretzka provides.
