The latest Chelsea injury news ahead of their Premier League match against Everton - including updates on Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah.

Having been unceremoniously dumped out of the Champions League by PSG, Chelsea will now turn their attention back to domestic matters – but their hopes of ending a three-match losing streak when they face Everton on Saturday have been dented by several new injury concerns.

Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah are among the key players to have picked up new injuries, while Malo Gusto missed the match against PSG due to illness – and isn’t the only player to have picked up a virus. All told, Liam Rosenior may be forced to make do without as many as eight first-team players for the forthcoming game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

With kick-off not far away, we’ve collected all of the latest Chelsea injury news and updates below, along with the absent players’ expected return dates when available.

How bad are the injuries to Reece James & Trevoh Chalobah?

The latest potential injury blow came late on during the 3-0 second leg defeat to PSG on Tuesday evening, when centre-back Trevoh Chalobah had to be stretchered off in evident pain following a challenge by Achraf Hakimi towards the end of the match, leaving Chelsea with just 10 men to complete the match.

As it stands, there is no official word on the severity of what appeared to be an ankle or foot injury. Rosenior told the media after the game that he was “hoping and praying that it’s not as bad as first feared,” but added that he was “really worried” that Chalobah’s injury was serious. Scans this week will reveal the extent of the damage and an update is likely to come on Friday, but there seems to be a strong chance that the 26-year-old faces some time on the sidelines.

If that is the case, then he will be joined there by club captain Reece James, who suffered a hamstring injury during the recent 1-0 defeat to Newcastle. An exact return date has not yet been set, but he is expected to be ruled out of the England squad for the March internationals with a late April return a possibility.

Reserve goalkeeper Filip Jörgensen appears to be working to a similar timeline. A groin injury saw him removed from Denmark’s squad for the upcoming international matches – like James, no return date has yet been provided but he is likely to miss several weeks of football.

Malo Gusto and Jamie Gittens among Chelsea doubts for Everton match

With Chalobah, James and Jörgensen all expected to be ruled out, Rosenior will hope that he is able to call upon the services of Malo Gusto, who missed the PSG defeat due to an illness.

Rosenior had suggested prior to the game that there may have been a chance that he was involved, and while he was eventually left out the fact that a late decision was made implies that there is a good chance the Frenchman is well enough to play on Saturday. Compatriot Benoît Badiashile is in the same situation.

Winger Jamie Gittens, meanwhile, is close to a return from a recent hamstring injury. The youngster had been expected to make the bench for last weekend’s game against Newcastle but felt discomfort after Friday’s training session and has yet to return to the squad. He may be back in time for the match against Everton.

Long-term absentee Levi Colwill, meanwhile, has returned to “modified training” – as Rosenior described it – as he continues his rehabilitation from a ruptured ACL. The defender is not currently considered likely to return in time for the end of the season, however. Winger Myhkaylo Mudryk is Chelsea’s final absentee, with the Ukrainian still suspended due to an alleged doping violation.
