Welcome to a series focusing specifically on the schoolboys at Arsenal who are currently at Hale End – those in the U16s and below. The academy is based in E17, Walthamstow. The 20th article is on Robert Asavetei.
A creative prospect who is part of Arsenal’s U14 squad, Asavetei is a Romania youth international, while he is also eligible to represent England.
Usually deployed as an attacking midfielder but also capable of playing on the right wing, the youngster signed for Arsenal just under a year ago having previously been at local team National Harrow.
An excellent dribbler, Asavetei was part of the Arsenal U13 squad that won the Premier League Super Cup last season.
Earlier this campaign he scored twice and provided an assist for the U14s in a 3-1 victory against Tottenham.
He will now be looking to finish the campaign strongly ahead of what could be an important season for his development.
