Ex-Chelsea Boss Who The Players“Respect”Tipped For Man City Job Amid Guardiola Exit Rumours

Former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been tipped to take over from Pep Guardiola at Man City.

Man City recently got knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid, and they are now hoping that they can land their first piece of silverware of the season, as they are preparing for a Carabao Cup final against Arsenal on Sunday.

A win wouldn’t only ease some pressure on City, but it would also prevent Arsenal from winning the quadruple, which would be a major win for Pep Guardiola and the Cityzens.

Guardiola has one more season on his contract at the Etihad, but many pundits and fans alike fear that he could leave in the summer, especially if Man City fail to win anything this season. It is understood that Man City are drawing up a list of potential replacements for Guardiola.

Man City tipped to sign Enzo Maresca

Former Man City assistant, and Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is one name on Man City’s radar, as Maresca worked under Guardiola for several years, and so knows Man City, but also knows a lot of the players at the club.

He was sacked by Chelsea in the Autumn, and has been without a job since, but remains one of the favourites to take over at the Etihad.

Former Man City defender Wayne Bridge has said he’d be a good appointment, as the players would respect him. Bridge told ManCityNews.com via 10bet: “I don’t think you could say Enzo Maresca is not the right choice. He’s been at the club before and probably has the respect of the players.

“Choosing a manager for a club is really tough. Sometimes you bring in big names, and it just doesn’t work. But looking at him, I think the players would respond well to him, so it’s not a bad shout at all.

I think he’ll definitely be in the running for the job if and when Pep decides to call it a day.”
