Manchester City secured their place at Wembley after another assured Carabao Cup campaign, progressing through each round with the control and composure that has defined their recent success in the competition.
Let's take a look at their journey below...
Round Three: Huddersfield Town 0-2 Manchester City
Manchester City moved into the Fourth Round of the Carabao Cup thanks to a standout display from Phil Foden, who scored the opener and set up Savinho for the second in a controlled win over League One Huddersfield Town.
The hosts had chances of their own, striking the post late on, but City’s quality told as James Trafford marked his return with a clean sheet and Pep Guardiola’s side continued their busy run of fixtures with another assured performance.
Round Four - Swansea City 1-3 Manchester City
Manchester City came from behind to reach the Carabao Cup Quarter‑Finals, with late goals from Omar Marmoush and Rayan Cherki completing a deserved turnaround at Swansea City. Gonçalo Franco had given the hosts an early lead before Jeremy Doku’s deflected strike levelled the tie.
City took control after the break and finally broke Swansea’s resistance when Marmoush fired in, with Cherki adding a stoppage‑time second to seal a place in the last eight, where they will host Brentford.
Quarter-Final - Manchester City 2-0 Brentford
Manchester City booked their place in the Carabao Cup Semi‑Finals with a 2–0 win over Brentford, sealed by Rayan Cherki’s superb first‑half strike and a deflected Savinho effort after the break.
Brentford threatened through Kristoffer Ajer, but City controlled the tie throughout, with James Trafford producing key saves as Pep Guardiola’s side moved to within one round of another Wembley appearance.
Semi-Final first leg - Newcastle United 0-2 Manchester City
Manchester City took control of their Carabao Cup Semi‑Final with a 2–0 first‑leg win at St James’ Park, thanks to goals from Antoine Semenyo and Rayan Cherki.
Semenyo continued his impressive start to life at City by turning in Jeremy Doku’s cross midway through the first half, before seeing another effort ruled out.
Newcastle had earlier gone close through Yoane Wissa and Bruno Guimarães, but City grew stronger as the game wore on and Cherki’s powerful stoppage‑time finish doubled the advantage.
Semi-Final second leg: Manchester City 3-1 Newcastle United
Manchester City cruised into the Carabao Cup Final with a 5–1 aggregate win over holders Newcastle United, sealing a Wembley meeting with Arsenal.
Already 2–0 up from the first leg, City made the perfect start at the Etihad as Omar Marmoush’s deflected strike put them further ahead inside six minutes, before the forward headed in a second and Tijjani Reijnders added a third before half-time.
Newcastle briefly responded through Anthony Elanga after the break, but the tie was long beyond reach, with City in full control throughout.
