Chelsea have lost out on earning £45.4m in revenue after going through the week from hell on the football pitch.
Liam Rosenior led his team to a 5-2 defeat to PSG in the Champions League last week, followed by a 1-0 defeat against Newcastle United in the Premier League, and then a 3-0 defeat against PSG in the second leg of that Champions League tie on Tuesday night. Three defeats in a row, all with implications.

The defeat to Newcastle obviously meant that they went out of the Champions League qualifying places for next season, with it all now to play for but effectively out of Chelsea’s hands relaying on others to lose around them.
And then, being dumped out of the Champions League means they miss out on some big chances to have earned much more revenue by advancing in the competition.

As reported by Football London this week, Chelsea missed out on the chance to bank a further £45.4m from the knockout stages, and would’ve been awarded £10.8m if they had progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
And then of course, if we went even further than that we would have been awarded even more prize money for each round we got to.

There is some good news – Chelseaare apparently hopeful about the injury Trevoh Chalobah picked up towards the end of the PSG game earlier in the week. We will keep our fingers crossed.
After the PSG defeat on Tuesday night, ESPN pundits laid into Liam Rosenior’s actions with atactical note late in the game.
