It was a real injury-fest at Cobham today, with Liam Rosenior having to address a number of questions on players he’s missing.
The news on Trevoh Chalobah is good – in a weird way. The defender had his ankle turned in quite horrific scenes against PSG, and when he was stretchered off it looked like it was his season over – and perhaps even the start of next season.
Chalobah update has good news for Chelsea fans
But the update Rosenior gave today was vaguely positive, while still insisting that it was a “serious” injury.
“It wasn’t until later after the game until I saw the image,” the manager said.
“You are then really, really worried. Fortunately, it’s nowhere near as serious as first feared. But it’s still serious. We’re looking at a period of six weeks out.”
The upcoming international break buys us some time, but this still means that Trevoh likely won’t be able to contribute until the very end of the campaign. It might all be over by then… it’s time for the likes of Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile to step up.
In other news…
There has been some chatter about Chelsea changing their transfer model, based on an early Liam Rosenior quote.
Chelsea gave Marc Cucurella a wage rise without telling anyone about it – one writer thinks he knows why.
