Enzo Fernandez’s post-match comments piled more misery on Chelsea fans after their Champions League exit, and the club have now responded.
Chelsea were dumped out of the competition 8-2 on aggregate, and after the game Fernandez refused to directly commit his future to the club.
The club’s project relies on keeping hold of their star players whilst adding quality around them, although Chelsea believe those comments were actually taken out of context.

Chelsea believe Enzo Fernandez’s comments were taken out of context
Ben Jacobs has told TalkSPORT that Fernandez’s camp are saying he purely meant he was focused on finishing the season as strong as possible, with a potential FA Cup win still possible.
He said: “I think the Chelsea hierarchy and those close to Enzo Fernandez have stressed in the last 12 hours that some of the comments have been translated out of context and rather than saying ‘I don’t know’ dismissively and therefore massively opening the door.

“The feeling from the Enzo Fernandez camp is that what he meant to say and felt that he did say in native tongue was more the focus is on the next eight games and the FA Cup rather than who knows what’s going to happen after the World Cup.
“That said, my understanding is there is a possibility that Enzo Fernandez leaves in the summer because the player would be open if the right club comes calling.”
The Blues will book their place in the FA Cup semi-final with a win over Port Vale at Stamford Bridge, a result they are expected to get with very few issues.
Do you think Chelsea should sack Liam Rosenior? Or are you willing to give him more time?🤔

Clubs interested in Enzo Fernandez
It has been reported that there is a ‘99%’ chance Fernandez leaves Chelsea, with Manchester City registering an interest in signing the midfielder.
There is also Saudi Arabian interest in Fernandez, however this move is currently not seen as one of those that will get him away from Stamford Bridge.
It is Real Madrid who are the club that are most likely to attract the World Cup winner this summer, although the Blues would not let that come for cheap.
Chelsea signed him for a club-record fee at the time, and letting him go when he is playing his best football would be a sign that the project is starting to really fail.
