We don’t yet know the structure of the contract, but let’s assume that the $13 million Hargrave is getting in Year 1 of this two-year deal is all that’s guaranteed. It feels high for a player of Hargrave’s age, but there’s a defensive tackle tax that teams effectively have to pay this year because of the lack of quality at the position in free agency. Defensive tackle-needy teams have been forced to pay up a little bit, which is the position the Packers were in.
