Manchester United will reject Barcelona's bid to extend Marcus Rashford's loan deal by another season. And United will tell the Spanish giants to cough up the agreed £26million fee - or send the England star back to Manchester in June.

Rashford joined Barca on a season-long loan deal last summer. At the time, both clubs agreed the agreement would become permanent for £26m.

Rashford has gone on to rediscover his best form and is desperate to pledge his long-term future to Barca. But re-elected Barca president Joan Laporta wants to extend the striker's loan into a second season - to avoid having to meet the asking price until the summer of 2027.

United bosses have had no recent dialogue with their counterparts in Spain. But it's understood the English giants are not prepared to allow Rashford to remain at the Nou Camp on-loan.

United would be prepared to take Rashford back - and sell him to the highest bidder ahead of next season.

Old Trafford chiefs know Rashford's resurrection in Spain has boosted his valuation in the transfer market. And United would be confident of getting closer to £50m for the 28-year-old, as well as getting him off the wage bill at the same time.

Rashford has scored 10 goals and provided eight assists for the Catalan giants. He has won his place back in the England squad and is expected to go to the World Cup this summer.

And United know that if he can have an impressive tournament for the Three Lions, his valuation might increase even more.

The situation has left both United and Barca on a collision course - with United unwilling to negotiate a deal unless it is on their terms.
