The New England Patriots run defense was gashed in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks. New England did have a good defense during the 2025 NFL season when they went 14-3, however. The Patriots do need to add more talent on both sides of the football this offseason.

New England will have the 31st overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft. The Patriots could either address the defensive line or the wide receiver position with this selection. There will be some good players available at the end of the first-round for Mike Vrabel’s and Eliot Wolf’s team.

Tom Fornelli created his latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft for CBS Sports. With the 31st overall selection, he has the Patriots selecting Clemson Tigers defensive end T.J. Parker. Fornelli said, “After his 2024 season, Parker was seen as a player who could be a top-five pick. A more ordinary 2025 significantly muted those expectations, but there’s still plenty to like.” It feels as if Parker would be a steal for New England if he is still on the board by the time the Patriots are on the clock.
Parker would fit into Vrabel’s culture perfectly. During the 2025 college football season with Clemson, he recorded 37 tackles, five sacks, recorded three fumbles, and one pass deflection. Parker is 6’3″ and weighs 265 lbs. New England does need more talent on the defensive line. Clemson has had players in the past on the defensive line who have been successful in the NFL. He can have a very good NFL career in the right place.
