Chelsea deem Enzo Fernandez not for sale and Liam Rosenior insists the midfielder is “fully committed” to Chelsea despite the comments about his future.
The midfielder has emerged as one of the central figures in ongoing transfer speculation after refusing to fully commit his long-term future to CHELSEA in recent interviews. His ambiguous stance has alerted several European heavyweights, and now Atlético Madrid are being increasingly linked as serious contenders for his signature.
According to reports in Spain, relayed by British media, Diego Simeone views Fernández as a perfect stylistic match for his midfield. Known for his tactical discipline, intensity, and technical quality, the Chelsea star is believed to align closely with Atlético’s combative and structured approach.
Atlético are said to be exploring creative ways to structure a deal, with one report suggesting a potential package involving cash plus young midfielder Pablo Barrios. While such a proposal would fall well below CHELSEA’s original investment, it underlines the Spanish club’s determination to land a marquee signing this summer.
But Chelsea sources believe the comments on Tuesday night were made in the heat of the moment after a demoralising defeat to PSG and some of what he said may have been lost in translation.
Speaking ahead of facing Everton, live on Saturday Night Football, Rosenior said: “I had a great conversation with Enzo at length this morning before training, not just about his comments but how he is feeling, how we can improve as a team.
“He is one of the captains at the club and what I will say is that he made it really clear how happy he is here at this club, how much he wants to win and how passionate he is for us to be successful.
“He also said that in translation and in emotions, things get misconstrued. For me, he is fully committed to this group and to win here at this football club.”
Despite persistent transfer rumours linking him with clubs, Chelsea’s position appears firm. The club have no intention of sanctioning a sale of one of their most important players, particularly given his long-term contract and status within the squad.
Rosenior’s public backing is also seen as part of a broader effort to stabilise the dressing room after a turbulent week. By addressing the speculation directly, the Chelsea manager has sought to draw a line under the issue and refocus attention on performances on the pitch.
With crucial fixtures ahead in both the Premier League and FA Cup, CHELSEA will be hoping that clarity over Fernandez’s future allows the team to move forward with renewed focus.
For now, the message from Stamford Bridge is unequivocal: Fernandez remains a key part of the club’s plans, and there is no expectation that he will depart in the summer.
