John Obi Mikel says‘fantastic’ player Chelsea want to sign really reminds him of Dele Alli

Former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel has been a tough man to win over when it comes to signings at Stamford Bridge, however he has compared one player the club are linked to a prime Dele Alli.

The former midfielder has been unhappy with the club recently, sharing his disapproval at sacking Enzo Maresca and hiring Liam Rosenior in his place.

Mikel featured as part of one of the best Chelsea squads the club have had in their history, making it clear why he is frustrated with the inconsistencies in the current side.

Do you think Chelsea should sack Liam Rosenior? Or are you willing to give him more time?🤔

John Obi Mikel compares Chelsea target Morgan Rogers to Dele Alli

Chelsea fans are well aware that they need more quality though, and the prospect of signing Morgan Rogers has excited them again after reports of interest last summer.

Mikel has been full of praise for the Aston Villa man, comparing him on the ‘Obi One Podcast’ to Dele’s prime at Tottenham.

He said: “I hear the stories about Dele Alli, It’s sort of a sad story because we know how good he was and he is and he can be.

“Obviously, he’s going through so much. You know who Dele Alli reminds me of? Morgan Rogers that plays for Aston Villa right now. Same kind of player, Morgan Rogers.

“When you see him play, it reminds me of Dele Alli. way they glide when they run past players is just absolutely fantastic to watch both of them. So for me, Morgan Rogers is that guy that reminds me of Dele Alli.”

Things have obviously not worked out as planned for the former England star. He is currently a free agent after being released by Cesc Fabregas‘ Como.

Chelsea must prioritise signing Rogers

As for Rogers, the sky is the limit for him at both club and international level, and should be at the top of the list when it comes to Chelsea’s transfer list.

The Blues brought in both Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens to play on the left of attack over the summer, however neither have had the required impact this season.

It has been reported that any deal for Rogers could cost north of £100m, however this is the kind of signing they simply need to make.

Bringing the England international in would see him link up with best friend Cole Palmer, no doubt having an impact on his own desire to stay at Stamford Bridge.
