Celtics Legend Breaks Bad News To Jaylen Brown On Historic Night

Fresh off a 41-point performance against the Phoenix Suns on Monday, Jaylen Brown picked up where he left off against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.

Brown immediately went to work for the Boston Celtics, racking up 19 points in the first quarter and 23 points in the first half of their 120-99 victory. He finished with 32, passing Celtics legends Jo Jo White and Dave Cowens on the team's all-time scoring list in the process.

Former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins was extremely impressed with Brown's showing but had some bad news for him at halftime.

"Jaylen Brown would never get an invite to my house for Thanksgiving, because he's leaving nothing on the table and he's gonna take a plate home," Perkins said on "NBA Halftime." "That's what we're witnessing right now. He's coming out, fresh off a 41-point performance...and he's still in attack mode."

While there are only a few weeks left in the regular season, Brown isn't taking his foot off the gas. Perkins thinks he still has his sights set on winning the NBA MVP Award.

"He still has the MVP on his mind, and he knows that he has to finish this season strong," Perkins continued. "He wants that accolade. This man wants to be great. He wants to be cemented with the tops and the best of the league, and right now he's putting on a classic performance, especially in this first half."

Despite his big week so far, Brown remains a long shot to win MVP. As of Thursday afternoon, he has the fifth-best odds at FanDuel Sportsbook at +20000.

While he probably won't win MVP, Brown is still helping Boston win games while putting the finishing touches on his best season yet.
