Alabama WR Germie Bernard Reveals Pre-Draft Visit With Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are loading up on wide receiver pre-draft visitors. Multiple have already stopped by the team facility, and Alabama WR Germie Bernard revealed he’s on deck. During a Thursday interview on SiriusXM Blitz, Bernard shared his upcoming plans.

“I have one in April to Pittsburgh, but other than that, nah,” Bernard said when asked about upcoming trips. “It’s just more of the Zoom interviews.”

Pittsburgh has already visited with Cincinnati’s Jeff Caldwell and Kentucky’s Kendrick Law. The team will also meet with Washington’s Denzel Boston. Bernard is a Day Two candidate coming off two solid seasons for the Crimson Tide.

In 2025, he finished with 64 receptions, 862 yards, and seven touchdowns. Bernard led the team in catches and yards and finished second in scores. At the NFL Combine, he weighed in at 6-1, 206 pounds and ran a 4.48 40-yard dash.

Our scouting report highlighted Bernard’s refined, technical route running, with the ability to play inside or out. Per Pro Football Focus, Bernard aligned out wide on 487 of his 2025 snaps with another 308 in the slot.

Negatively, we noted a lack of top-end speed, with most of his plays coming against zone, not man, coverage. We concluded:

“Germie Bernard does a lot of things that you’d really want an NFL receiver to do. He isn’t scared of contact in any aspect and brings a physical nature to the position. But he’s not just strong. For being just 22 years old, Bernard is incredibly savvy as a route runner, using head fakes, leverage, and a simple understanding of how to break down zone coverage.

However, his game is somewhat capped. He can run deep routes well, but doesn’t have the speed to be a true every-down deep threat at the NFL level. He also doesn’t have much agility. This hurts him against press coverage. It limits what he can do after the catch, despite his impressive contact balance.”

Our comparison fell between Jarvis Landry and Earl Bennett with an 8.3 “long-time starter” grade.

Bernard will likely be a Day Two selection. Mock Draft Database notes an average selection of 54th overall. So he could be on Pittsburgh’s radar if the team passes on a first-round receiver.
