Bears’ Mock Madness: Targeting Defensive Tackles

In celebration of March Madness, WCG is bringing Chicago Bears fans a special kind of bracket. Drawing on the Consensus Board at Mock Draft Database and looking at other individual boards for perspective, we are going to present 16 different _2-round mock drafts_ for the Chicago Bears. These 16 mocks are divided into four groups: the Defensive Tackle group, the Edge group, the Safety group, and the Offensive Tackle group. In round one, for each group, we will be asking of _these choices_, which pair of options fans prefer for Chicago.

Next up, we have the priority Defensive Tackle group.

**#1 Seed.** Peter Woods (DL, Clemson) + A.J. Haulcy (SF, LSU), with the other second round pick traded to move up to 16 for Woods (currently #20 on the Consensus Board).

Woods had a rough combine, but he is still a well-regarded player on a number of draft boards. Chicago might legitimately need to move up if they wanted him, and here they moved to #16 to be sure, but if they did so, they could still secure a well-regarded safety in the second round at #57.

**#4 Seed.** Christen Miller (DL, Georgia) + Malachi Lawrence (ED, UCF) + Kamari Ramsey (SF, USC).

Miller has not been highlighted as much as other interior defensive linemen, but he is a good fit for the lighter nose tackle role in an even-front. Lawrence is still considered a second-rounder on many boards, and Ramsey fills another defensive need.

**#2 Seed.** Caleb Banks (DL, Florida) + Gabe Jacas (ED, Illinois) + Connor Lew (C, Auburn).

Prior to the combine, this might have been the top selection, but with Banks re-injuring his foot, it’s possible that the Gator falls out of the first round entirely. Nonetheless, here I took him at 25.

**#3 Seed.** Lee Hunter (DL, Texas Tech) + Derrick Moore (ED, Michigan) + Zakee Wheatley (SF, Penn State) + 2027 R2 Pick from Cincinnati.

The scenario here is that Chicago trades out of Round 1 to select Hunter at #41, who is currently 40th on the Consensus Board. This one is a reach, because Hunter is probably not on Chicago’s radar, but each of these players would answer a specific question raised by the team’s shortcomings in 2025 and the extra draft capital in 2027 could be enough to move Poles off of #25.

So, here are the potential options. Which represents your favorite two pairings?

#1 Woods + Haulcy _and_ #2 Banks + Jacas + Lew

#1 Woods + Haulcy _and_ #3 Hunter + Moore + Wheatley + future pick

#4 Miller + Lawrence + Ramsey _and_ #2 Banks + Jacas + Lew

#4 Miller + Lawrence + Ramsey _and_ #3 Hunter + Moore + Wheatley + future pick
