The New Orleans Saints have a much more optimistic future this offseason than they have had in years. A lot of that optimism has to do with the presence of quarterback Tyler Shough.

After being selected with the No. 40 overall pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Shough took over the starting job in the middle of his rookie year. He ended up completing 67.6 percent of his pass attempts for 2,384 yards, 10 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while also running for 186 yards and three more scores.

Shough appears to have a legitimate chance at being the Saints’ quarterback of the future. Now, the team needs to do everything it can to build around him.

For Kellen Moore and the New Orleans offense, another wide receiver would be nice.

Chris Olave has shown signs of being a capable No. 1 target. However, the Saints won’t be able to rely on him completely. They need to bring in another target for Shough.

New Orleans Saints Linked as Trade Suitor for Keon Coleman

With that being said, New Orleans has been suggested as a potential trade partner with the Buffalo Bills for young wide receiver Keon Coleman.

Coleman was a healthy scratch for multiple games last season with the Bills. There has been a lot of speculation that Buffalo would be open to trading him this offseason.

While no move has been made yet, Sports Illustrated’s Mike Kadlick named Coleman to the Saints as one trade he’d like to see this offseason.

“Enter the Saints, who could use a developmental No. 2 target behind Chris Olave for second-year quarterback Tyler Shough to work and grow with,” Kadlick wrote. “Outside of the aforementioned Olave, New Orleans’ leading receiver last season was tight end Juwan Johnson, followed by Rashid Shaheed—who was traded to Seattle at the deadline.”

What Would Keon Coleman Bring to the New Orleans Offense?

After being drafted by the Bills with the No. 33 overall pick at the top of the second round in the 2024 NFL Draft, Coleman was expected to become a potential No. 1 weapon for Josh Allen. Obviously, that hasn’t happened yet.

Throughout his first two seasons in the league, Coleman has played in 26 games. He has caught 67 total passes for 960 yards and eight touchdowns.

Standing in at 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, the young wideout would give Shough a different kind of weapon than Olave. He would bring elite size and great athleticism to the field. If he reaches his full potential, Coleman could very well be a top target.

Trading for Coleman would come with some risk for New Orleans. His struggles in Buffalo cannot be forgotten.

However, the raw potential and talent that Coleman possesses would make him worth taking a flier on. Assuming the price to trade for him isn’t too high, the Saints should consider pursuing this option.
