The LSU head coach responded to a viral photo of Dart dressed in a black robe-like outfit while posing with girlfriend Marissa Ayers, laughing at the look and writing on X:
“You know Jaxson Dart is madly in love because he’s dressing up like a pilgrim for his girlfriend.”
Kiffin added a crying-laughing emoji, turning the lighthearted comment into a viral moment that quickly drew backlash from fans who felt the remark crossed a line, especially given their former coach-player relationship.

Dart, 22, was selected 25th overall by the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft after three seasons under Kiffin at Ole Miss (2022–2024). He was named the starter entering Week 4 of his rookie year and delivered a solid debut campaign: 15 touchdowns against 5 interceptions across 14 regular-season games, plus 9 rushing scores.
He now prepares for his sophomore season in New York under new head coach John Harbaugh, who replaced Brian Daboll after the latter’s midseason firing in 2025.
