The city of Denver, Colorado and Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix welcomed former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle on March 17, the night of his arrival.

Team leader, Bo Nix, took it upon himself to make Waddle feel it at ease as he navigates this abrupt change.

Nix and several teammates invited Waddle to dinner at a local restaurant before the trade was processed.

Jaylen Waddle Is A Perfect Edition to the Bo Nix Led Denver Broncos Offense

The Denver Broncos had an incredible run in Bo Nix’s sophomore season. They finished with the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC, with a record of 14-3.

Nix was just shy of 4,000 passing yards, recording 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also led the league in game-winning drives with seven.

Bo Nix’s 2025 season concluded in the AFC Divisional against the Buffalo Bills with season-ending ankle injury, despite the Broncos advancing to the AFC Championship.

The Broncos eventually lost to the New England Patriots 10-7 with backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham making the start.

Nix’s injury left fans wondering about what could have been.

ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith explained his take on the future of the Broncos following the trade for Jaylen Waddle.

“I think we look at the Denver Broncos and say if Bo Nix was healthy, the Denver Broncos would have been in the Super Bowl over the New England Patriots,” Smith said on ESPN’s First Take “And then you go out and get Jaylen Waddle… the Denver Broncos have given you no reason to believe why they can’t be the number one seed, again.”

Smith weighed in on the lack of big moves in the AFC following free agency. He emphasized that the Broncos took measures that teams like the Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts, and Houston Texans didn’t take.

Teams will likely double-team Waddle, opening up opportunities for wide receivers like Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin, and deep threat Marvin Mims Jr.

“I don’t think there are No. 1s, everyone is here to make plays and try to win,” Waddle said Wednesday, in a phone call press conference. “That’s ultimately the goal for the team and for the organization.”

NFL’s Senior News Writer Kevin Patra explains that Waddle’s greatest strength is to create separation against any coverage, while also filling a significant hole in the Broncos’ offense, lack of targets in the middle.

Jaylen Waddle Already Feels Like Denver Is Home After Few Days With Broncos

Jaylen Waddle wasn’t joining this Denver Broncos team as a complete stranger. In college he played with star cornerback Pat Surtain II at the University of Alabama. The pair won a National Championship during the 2020 college football season.

Many other players have shown their support through reposts of the Broncos’ social media.

“It feels like home, feels like family,” said Waddle in his introductory presser. “Everyone has been welcoming. It’s been great.”

Waddle also shares what it means to playing with guys like Bo Nix, “I’m excited… They’re all playmakers, so it’s always exciting to play with a lot of different talented players,” Waddle told Broncos lead writer, Aric DiLalla.

With the addition of Waddle, the Broncos finally made their splash in the offseason, as they push toward a Super Bowl run in 2026.
