Tottenham to battle Chelsea for Bundesliga star who’s on 15 G/A this season

Tottenham are keen to reinforce their forward department after struggling for goals this season.

Despite the 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday, Tottenham Hotspur remain in crisis. The appointment of Igor Tudor as an interim boss hasn’t worked out so far. The Croatian tactician is determined to help the club avoid relegation and preserve their top-flight status this season, before the N17 chiefs can hunt for a new permanent coach and revamp the squad.

Creating and scoring goals has been among the biggest problems this season. Spurs are missing a dominant figure up front who can regularly find himself in good positions to score and make an impact in the final third with his link-up play and creativity.

Currently, Igor Tudor has three striker options in Dominic Solanke, Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani. Kolo Muani is on loan from PSG and will return to the French club in the summer, while Richarlison and Solanke’s injury records are not something to boast of. And with Richarlison expected to leave at the end of the season, the Lilywhites would need a sufficient replacement.

Tottenham considering summer move for Hoffenheim star

According to a report from German publication Bild, Tottenham and Chelsea are considering a summer move for Hoffenheim centre-forward Fisnik Asllani. Bayern Munich are also in the mix for one of the fastest-growing forwards in the Bundesliga.

Fisnik Asllani has grown leaps and bounds in a matter of months this season, transforming from a fringe player into a standout starter in the league. He has started 23 of 25 Bundesliga games for Hoffenheim, registering eight goals and seven assists.

The Kosovan is the second-highest scorer for his team this campaign behind Andrej Kramaric, and his overall impact in the Bundesliga hasn’t gone unnoticed. Both Spurs and Chelsea are seeking attacking reinforcements, and Asllani’s profile as a mobile, physical, high-pressing forward fits the Premier League perfectly.

Chelsea were dumped out of the Champions League by PSG in an embarrassing fashion earlier this week. They lost 8-2 on aggregate to the reigning European champions, although the Blues still remain very much involved in the race to finish in the Champions League places. This means they are very well-placed to compete for Asllani’s signature in comparison to Tottenham.

Spurs are embroiled in a relegation battle. Dropping into the Championship would force a massive squad clearout. The lack of a stable environment and an exciting footballing project could make it difficult for the Lilywhites to persuade Asllani to choose them as his next destination in his career. So, it wouldn’t be wrong to say our bitter London rivals, Chelsea, hold a distinct advantage in signing the Hoffenheim ace.
