Since being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the No. 53 overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Jalen Hurts has been one of the most controversial quarterbacks in the league.

No, the controversy doesn’t come from anything Hurts has done or not done. It also doesn’t come from him having a lack of success.

Instead, the debate amongst fans and media members has been the source of controversy. Some believe that Hurts is an elite franchise quarterback, while others have called him simply a game manager.

Regardless of where anyone stands on the Hurts debate, he has won a Super Bowl with the Eagles and led the team to another. He has had the kind of success already in his NFL career that many quarterbacks never accomplish.

That being said, Hurts’ name continues to be brought up in rumors. There are some who don’t believe that he is guaranteed to have a long-term future in Philadelphia.

Jalen Hurts Again Brought Up in Wild Eagles’ Trade Speculation

Another trade idea involving Hurts has been suggested. This time, it comes from Nick Wilson during a segment of 92.3 The Fan’s “Afternoon Drive.”

Wilson suggested a trade that would send Hurts to the Cleveland Browns.

“A fifth-round pick for Tanner McKee or the (No.) 6 pick for Jalen Hurts?” Wilson said.

Jonathan Peterlin responded with his opinion on the trade idea.

“Sixth overall, you get Jalen Hurts — I feel like it’s not even a question. It’s a question for the people in Philadelphia. Do I think Jalen Hurts is the greatest quarterback I’ve ever seen? No, I don’t. Do I think he comes with some limitation? I do,” Peterlin said.

“I’d give up the No. 6 overall pick for Jalen Hurts and I don’t think that’s a hot take.”

The Eagles Are Not Going to Trade Jalen Hurts

All of the trade talk and speculation is what it is and nothing can be done to stop it. However, the fact of the matter is that the Eagles have had a lot of success with Hurts at quarterback and they’re simply not going to deal him away.

Last season, Hurts played in 16 games for Philadelphia. He completed 64.8 percent of his pass attempts for 3,224 yards, 25 touchdowns, and just six interceptions, while also running for 421 yards and eight scores.

Throughout his entire six-year and 93-game NFL career, Hurts has thrown for 17,891 yards, 110 touchdowns, and 45 interceptions. He has also racked up 3,554 yards on the ground and 63 rushing touchdowns.

Few quarterbacks can produce those numbers. Without him leading the way, there is a good chance that the Eagles would not have won the Super Bowl two years ago.

Hurts is going to continue facing rumors and talk about his future. However, it would be an absolute shock to see Philadelphia even consider moving on from him.
