This offseason, the New York Giants made a big addition to their offense in the form of Isaiah Likely. As the veteran tight end embarks on a new journey, one former player is eager to see him showcase his talents in an expanded role.

During the March 18th Installment of “Good Morning Football,” the panel gave one player on a new team that isn’t getting enough shine. Isaiah Stanback went with Likely and then broke down why he feels he is a good fit in the Giants’ offense.

“I like Isaiah Likely in New York,” Stanback said. “This dude is an absolute beast…Now he is the main man in New York. Now you have Skattebo in the backfield, you got Darius Slayton, you got Malik Nabers. Now you got this man working the middle of the field? The best friend to a young quarterback is a reliable tight end.”

Likely was a productive backup tight end for the Baltimore Ravens for four years after being drafted in the fourth round in 2022. Upon signing a three-year, $40 million deal with the Giants, he’ll have the chance to show what he can do getting starter’s reps.

Isaiah Likely Speaks on Decision to Sign With The Giants

Stanback is far from the only person excited to see Likely in a new situation. Countless people around the league have applauded New York for landing him, with some even calling it the best move of free agency.

Now an established player in the NFL, the main thing Likely desired is opportunity. This is one of the main reasons he settled on the Giants, as he’ll have a chance to be an impact player in the offense from day one.

“Absolutely,’’ Likely said. “And I feel like New York was just the best place for me to pick to be able to blossom, show my talents, and show that I’m a top tight end caliber player in this league now and really just being able to just express everything, showing New York that you got everything out of Isaiah Likely from here.’’

New York already has a cast of young, hungry players on the roster. This season, they’ll have another extremely motivated talent as Likely aims to prove he can be much more than a backup in the NFL.

Radio Host Believes Isaiah Likely Could Help Morph Giants Into Playoff Team

Heading into the first full season with Jaxson Dart under center, the Giants are eager to get back to being a competitive football team on a weekly basis. Upon adding an exciting talent in Likely, some think he can help them quickly climb the ranks in the NFC.

While appearing on WFAN Sports Radio last week, Jerry Recco gushed over what Likely can bring to the Giants’ offense. Looking at this new-look roster, he is confident they’ll be able to battle for a playoff spot this upcoming season.

“This kid’s upside is really to be a 70 to 80 to 90 catch type of player, have a huge impact,” Recco said. “The more I look at the NFC East, this Giant team, I know it sounds crazy give the way things have gone the last couple of years. It feels like this Giant team though is going to be a playoff team in 2026.”
