Chelsea vs Everton: Predicted XI as Liam Rosenior hands start to 19-year-old

Chelsea’s attention has to turn back to Premier League action after their Champions League disappointment, with Liam Rosenior needing to make some changes from Wednesday’s nightmare.

The Blues are starting to lose ground in the race for a top five place, and will need to be at their best to navigate a tricky away trip to Everton this weekend.

Rosenior started to build towards the game with the unpopular decision to sub off some key players in the second leg against PSG, when the tie was clearly done.

Chelsea to offer Enzo Fernandez over £400k-per-week, eclipsing Reece James’ new deal 👀

Is this a step too far?

With that information, The Chelsea Chronicle have named their starting XI to take on the Toffees on Saturday.

Chelsea predicted XI vs Everton

Robert Sanchez will retain his place in the starting side. There is currently no competition for his place after the injury suffered by Filip Jorgensen.

With no Reece James, Malo Gusto will hopefully have recovered from illness in time to start at right-back.

A defensive injury crisis has hit Chelsea of late, and Rosenior should look to Josh Acheampong to help steady the ship at the back.

We are predicting he will be partnered by Jorrel Hato, who has improved greatly when given more opportunities of late.

This will see Marc Cucurella continue at left-back. He was one of those given an early finish in the destruction by PSG earlier this week.

Moises Caicedo remains a crucial member of the starting side, and will again start as Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo continue to build up fitness.

Alongside the Ecuadorian will be Andrey Santos. The midfielder was praised for his performance against PSG despite Chelsea’s heavy defeat.

Ahead of those two, Enzo Fernandez will be back in the number 10 role. He continues to be a regular goal threat when featuring in this role.

On the right, Cole Palmer will be looking for more joy than he managed up against the Champions League holders.

The left-wing will be occupied by Alejandro Garnacho, who will replace Pedro Neto from the usual starting XI.

Up front, Joao Pedro will remain ahead of Liam Delap in the pecking order due to his excellent domestic form.
