Chelsea players raise concerns over Liam Rosenior training ground decision - journalist

At this point, you would have to worry about Liam Rosenior’s future as Chelsea manager.

The Blues have just lost 8-2 on aggregate to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, while some players seem to be unhappy.

There is plenty of talk about Enzo Fernandez potentially leaving Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window.

Chelsea players puzzled by amount of time they’ve been given off

Right now, it does not look as though the players are buying into all of Rosenior’s ideas.

Journalist Simon Phillips has revealed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that there are concerns and confusion regarding the amount of time players are getting off.

According to Phillips, it was a very similar theme when Frank Lampard was in charge of the club.

If you are a Chelsea player or supporter, though, the biggest concern has to be Rosenior’s set-up and team selections.

His back three against PSG on Tuesday simply did not work, while the decision to start 20-year-old Mamadou Sarr in central defence was reckless.

It comes after Rosenior dropped Robert Sanchez for Filip Jorgensen in the first leg. Both the Denmark international and Sarr went on to make costly mistakes that took both games away from Chelsea.

Rosenior should not have to shoulder all of the blame, though. Chelsea were already struggling before his arrival; it is one reason why Enzo Maresca ended up leaving.

The Italian was clearly not seeing eye to eye with the board, but had Chelsea been flying in the league, it is unlikely that he would have gone anywhere.

It is the club’s sporting directors who also need to take some responsibility. Rosenior should be pointing the finger at Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart. They have handed him a squad that simply cannot compete.

It lacks experience, a dominant centre-half and clearly a goalkeeper Rosenior feels he can trust. When will the rest of the media start to call them out? Instead, it is Rosenior getting all of the blame for now.
