Liam Rosenior has revealed he has caught the 'mole' who leaked team news ahead of Chelsea's Champions League matches against Paris Saint-Germain.
The Blues were beaten 5-2 by PSG in their last 16 first leg clash at the Parc des Princes earlier this month. Before the game, Chelsea's starting XI was published by French media.
Rosenior vowed to catch the mole after the match. He said, per the Daily Mail: "I wasn’t aware [that his line-up had been leaked].
"I’m sure we’ll get to the bottom of that if that’s the case. These things now, they happen quite a lot. We get information about our opposition. I’m more worried about the end result than the beginning of the game."
Information about Chelsea's team was again leaked ahead of the second leg at Stamford Bridge. It was revealed before kick-off that Wesley Fofana was not in the lineup and that Trevoh Chalobah and Jorrel Hato were at centre-back.
Chelsea were beaten 3-0 in west London, resulting in an 8-2 thrashing across the two legs.
Liam Rosenior Reveals He's Caught the Mole
Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior
Rosenior spoke to the media on Thursday ahead of Chelsea's Premier League clash against Everton this weekend. The 41-year-old, who is now under pressure after a string of poor results, revealed that he has found out who had been leaking the team news. He said:
"We know. And it has not come from any place of malicious intent to me or the team. We know where it’s come from and we’ve dealt with the situation.
Rosenior stopped short of identifying exactly who had been at fault. However, according to the Guardian, it is believed that the information did not come from a player or staff member.
Liam Rosenior Addresses Criticism After Passing Note to Alejandro Garnacho
V
Rosenior was criticised for passing a note to winger Alejandro Garnacho in the dying moments of their defeat to PSG on Wednesday evening. He was asked what he made of the criticism on Thursday. He replied, per Sky:
"I will always do my best in whatever circumstance for the team to perform at their best level, regardless of the result. Whether we are five goals down or five goals up.
"We had just gone down to 10 men and we needed to change the system. We needed Caicedo to go to right-back. Rather than me scream and shout above a lot of people in the stadium, the best thing to do is to show him and get the note across to him.
"I am aware, If I don't win at this football club as the manager and we don't win as a team, I am very aware now that anything goes.
"It doesn't affect me. I am aware of it, of course, it is my job to be aware of what is being said of the football club and my team. Am I surprised? No, the level maybe.
"The reality is, I need to help this club and my players perform. If I don't, maybe if I breathe wrong or sneeze wrong, it will be spoken about."
