The Los Angeles Lakers continued their winning streak thanks to another epic Luka Doncic game, but the superstar revealed a surprising revelation. Doncic shared that he felt goosebumps due to the opposing road Miami Heat crowd showing him respect for scoring 60 points. The Lakers overcame a large deficit to defeat Miami 134-126. Doncic had one of the greatest performances of his career and did it on little rest after a back-to-back.
The following post-game interview featured Luka revealing that he felt goosebumps due to the Heat fans’ chants:
“I was very impressed. Especially an away game in Miami, and you hear the whole crowd chanting MVP, that’s what any player wants to hear. I got a little bit of goosebumps, so it was pretty special.”

Luka Doncic Has Completely Silenced Critics
The middle of the NBA season featured Doncic getting criticized for his flaws during the Lakers’ struggles. Expectations for a popular franchise with Luka, LeBron James, and Austin Reaves as a “big three” caused a lot of backlash from fans and media when the Lakers underwent a losing streak after their hot early start.
Doncic was blamed for his poor defense and questionable moments complaining to referees too much. However, the recent month of MVP-level play sees the criticism towards Luka finally quieting down. Doncic is averaging 40.9 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game over his past six games.
The Lakers are starting to build strong momentum as they add to their lead for the third seed in the Western Conference. Home court will be important for every team in the first round due to the West being so loaded. Luka is doing his best to put the Lakers in a great position to win.
Is Luka A Legitimate MVP Candidate?
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander still holds a strong lead in the MVP race, but Doncic is building steam. Overall averages of 33.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game show how dominant he has performed offensively all season, even during the team’s lower points.
Victor Wembanyama and Doncic are gaining momentum as the outside challengers after some recent changes in the MVP tier ranking. Cade Cunningham will be out for the foreseeable future, and Jaylen Brown is now sharing his role leading the Boston Celtics with the returning Jayson Tatum to hurt their chances.
Gilgeous-Alexander will likely win the award, but some voters could lean towards Luka since his team badly needs him. Oklahoma City has a winning record without Shai, but the Lakers struggle when Doncic is out. Doncic needs to keep playing at this historically great level to give himself a real chance to catch Gilgeous-Alexander.
