Report: Chelsea player'incredibly upset'in call with international manager

Filip Jorgensen has had a rough few weeks at Chelsea, and things have gotten even worse for the goalkeeper due to an injury that has forced him to withdraw from duty with Norway.

While Filip Jorgensen has shown flashes of the shot-stopping ability that tempted Chelsea to trigger his move from Villarreal, he’s been brought down to earth of late.

It was the big mistake in the Champions League Round of 16 first-leg tie that started it all for Jorgensen, with five goals conceded and a whole lot of criticism.

The goalkeeper also suffered a groin injury during the clash with PSG, with the medical staff taking a cautious approach that saw him miss the Newcastle United game and the second leg.

And what doesn’t help the optics is that this injury has cost him his greatest career opportunity to date: leading his country in the World Cup play-offs.

Is this a step too far?

Brian Riemer reveals heartbreaking Filip Jorgensen phone call

National coach Brian Riemer received a call from Filip Jorgensen before Tuesday’s national team selection, and it was not an uplifting conversation.

Tipsbladet shared the situation.

“I had a young man on the phone who was about to cry,” Riemer said on Tuesday. “Filip Jorgensen was incredibly upset because he had been looking forward to helping us. He could hardly bring himself to call me and cancel.”

The raw emotion described by Riemer highlights the immense personal toll the injury has taken on a player who was desperate to prove his worth, but he will be back after the international break.

Do you think Chelsea should sack Liam Rosenior? Or are you willing to give him more time?🤔

What the future holds for Filip Jorgensen at Chelsea

The chances of Filip Jorgensen reclaiming his starting role at Chelsea hinge on a balance between his recovery and his ability to handle the mental weight of recent errors.

While he remains under a long-term contract, the shadow of Robert Sanchez continues to loom large, especially with the Spaniard enjoying a steady run of form during Jorgensen’s absence.

Mike Penders will come into the fold in the summer, and we all know just how highly Liam Rosenior rates him, so there’s a lot to play for from here on until the end of the season.
